The three main theories of attractiveness research are the hypothesis of the average, the symmetry hypothesis and the theory of sexual dimorphism.
We only want to give some brief indications of the “why”, but these are necessary to better understand the mechanisms involved in meeting an attractive person. Most of the article deals with how strongly attractiveness influences our social environment.
In aesthetic medicine, we are dealing with the optimisation of various factors that our counterpart perceives as “beautiful” or “attractive”. Beauty always has a social meaning and can never be seen in isolation from social conditions. We do not only look at our reflection with our own eyes, but above all with the eyes of others.
